gd2013 Blog Entry #1 : Youtube video with voice over

Star Wars: Battlefront II Gameplay using Fraps Screencasting

Here in this video, I play Star Wars Battlefront II, my favorite game. I try to do voice over using the default microphone that came with my laptop, but it made my voice extremely quiet, so I become almost inaudible halfway through the video. Later on, you can hear me though.

gd2013 BLOG ENTRY #2 Using Paint to create images, game mechanic ideas, and more

Paint Art

Here are a few images I created using paint from Windows. I used to draw a little cartoon style, but as you can see, I never really took the time to become a master at it!
A Simple picture with the use of some simple shading which was created for the sole purpose of me practicing. Shading was used by using the separation of two colors, and it turned out pretty good.

This image is depicting one of my many concepts for some gameplay mechanics I have in mind. Being able to lift objects without the use of physical strain is a fun concept for a game. Some other gameplay mechanics I am thinking of are use of tech gear (such as a jet pack or rocket boots), super powers of any kind (flight ability or super strength), or just any negative aspect the user will have to work with (slowed movement or no offensive capabilities). These attributes will definitely engender many possibilities that will be fun for in gamer to play with.

Games that incorporate buildings, cities, and villages:

The two I can think of that does this are

In they talk about how the user can use a grappling hook a parachute to climb nearby buildings and base jump off of them in any form or fashion. I love how you can do this, making this one of my favorite games of all time:)

and..

The video in the link shows some game play from the game The Last of Us, where the player is inside the rundown capitol building. The very building itself adds to the theme and atmosphere of the game and surely would not be as great as it was without the details involved in the surrounding structures.
